Why now
A wave of AI-built apps needs a trustworthy place to change hands
Software has never been faster to build. A single founder can ship a working product in a weekend, and thousands are. The result is a growing supply of small, real, revenue-shaped apps — and very few good ways to buy or sell them.
Today those deals happen in DMs and spreadsheets: no shared way to verify what an app actually is, no protection for the money, no clean handoff of the repository, domain and accounts. Trust is improvised every time, and that friction keeps good apps from finding the people who would carry them forward.
Appswap exists to make that exchange dependable — to give builders a place where the work they shipped can be valued, verified and transferred without either side having to take the other on faith.
What we're building
A verifiable marketplace, end to end
Four pieces turn a risky private sale into something repeatable: evidence on every listing, money you can trust, a transfer you can prove, and a record that lasts.
Every listing carries an App Passport: GitHub-backed provenance signals, live-demo status, documentation, the seller's verification state and an overall trust score — so buyers can judge an app on evidence, not adjectives.
Checkout holds funds in escrow through Escrow.com and releases them to the seller only after the buyer confirms they have full control — so neither side has to trust the other first.
Both parties sign a mutual NDA, an Asset Purchase Agreement and an IP Assignment, then follow a guided handoff across repository, domain, secrets, accounts, data and docs.
Each completed sale produces a tamper-evident certificate recording what changed hands and when — a durable, verifiable record of the transfer.
